Healthy skin doesn’t have to be hard work. You can actually repair your skin with clever advice from the skin care guru himself, Ole Henriksen. While protecting your skin during the day is important, you can give your skin a boost by adding the following tips to your nightly routine.
• Use a separate night crème from your day crème. While many crèmes can be used for day and night, it’s a good idea to find a regular night crème that will repair your skin while you’re getting your beauty rest. Ole’s express the truth crème, nurture me, sheer transformation and pure perfection face crèmes are especially designed to hydrate and firm your skin overnight.
• Use an adequate amount of moisturizer. Use a generous amount of moisturizer while you sleep to provide your skin with a healthy, vibrant glow. After you’ve applied your moisturizer, slip your hand across the skin. It should feel dewy to the touch if you’ve applied enough. When you wake up, your skin will be soft and smooth for the day!
• Fall asleep naturally. Avoid under eye darkness and tired looking eyes with a good nights sleep. If you are having trouble sleeping, taking medication to aid sleep is not the answer. Instead, Ole recommends choosing the natural way with a soothing cup of caffeine free tea like African red tea or chamomile with some honey to help you drift off to sleep.
• Get regular exercise everyday. If you are active during the day, your body will be prepared for a good night’s sleep. Not only will your muscles be tired, but keeping the body fit and taking in plenty of fresh oxygen will help your circulation and keep your energy levels balanced.

If you spend most of your day staring at a computer screen, you no doubt have suffered from an achy back, tension headaches, wrist pain or sluggishness. Banish stress and exhaustion with this simple trick from Ole. “To fight stress throughout the day, I get up from my workspace and stretch,” says Ole. One of his favorite ways to relax can be done without getting out of your office chair.
Begin by sitting tall in your office chair. Close your eyes and take a deep inhale as you raise your arms up over your head so that your finger tips point towards the ceiling. As you exhale fold forward and touch your palms to the floor. Focus on constricting your stomach muscles while continuing to breathe steadily. Hold this position for a minute, then keeping your back flat, bring yourself to an upright position as you inhale and reach your fingertips towards the ceiling
It’s also a good idea to have something green on your desk to bring the peaceful outdoors into your office. “Bamboo is a wonderful choice, because it’s beautiful, sculptural, and grows in any kind of light, or lack thereof,” he says. If the weather is nice, skip your afternoon coffee fix and take a walk outside your workplace for some fresh, energizing air. Sometimes nature is the best cure for workplace stress.

We rely on our feet to carry us through the day, but are you pampering them the way you should? “Let’s face it, our feet do a lot of multi-tasking every day,” says Ole. “Your feet should be pampered as much as your face.” After a long day on your feet, step into your bath and immerse your feet with the muscle comfort soak. Next, apply an exfoliating scrub like our loofah body scrub to remove dead skin cells. After you’ve dried off, apply a hydrating moisturizer to prevent dry, cracked heels.
Our muscle comfort lotion is perfect for sore or over-worked joints and hydrates to prevent dry skin. Originally formulated for pregnant women as a solution for pesky swollen ankles, Ole has since discovered that this lotion is equally beneficial to athletes with muscle soreness, elderly people with circulation problems and more. The peppermint essential oils work to stimulate micro-circulation, while the seaweed extract helps detoxify and reduce excess fluid accumulation around the ankles. The peppermint also delivers an invigorating aroma that men and women alike can enjoy. Nourish your tired feet today — you deserve it!

If you haven’t been able to fit regular spa trips into your schedule, take Ole’s advice and create your own sweet retreat without leaving home. Treat yourself to one or two nights of bliss with the following tips.
Mind/soul Before you begin your at home spa treatment, be sure to let everyone in your household know that you have set some private time aside for yourself and would not like to be disturbed. Lock the door and if you have a dimmer switch use it, otherwise light your favorite aromatic candle. Put some beautiful flowers and lay out all the products you will need for your treatments to create a stress free environment. The key is to clear your mind and completely relax into your surroundings. Begin with a soothing skin inhalation therapy treatment to purify your mind and begin to awaken your pores.
Face Instead of the traditional undereye puffiness treatment of sliced cucumbers over the eyes, get more lasting results with Ole’s special treatment. Grate a cucumber and roll the pieces into gauze to create a sushi roll, Next, lay the roll across the eyelids. Grating the cucumbers helps release their anti-inflammatory benefits and the gauze allows them to seep evenly onto the delicate skin around the eyes. When we lay cucumber slices on the eyelids, they tend to get pushed away by our eyelashes or they end up sitting on top of our brow bones rather than the lid and undereye. Bonus: Place damp tea bags over your eyes to reduce puffiness. Ole recommends chamomile or African red tea for the best results.
Body Before you step into the shower, make sure that the water is medium warm so that you don’t over dry your skin. Begin by using an exfoliating body scrub like our african red tea exotic body scrub, rub n’ buff salt scrub or loofah body scrub. Get down on one knee to scrub each foot one at a time. Rub your palms in symmetry and work your way up each leg. Continue gently exfoliating the rest of your body and rinse. When you are done, apply a soothing body lotion like our body sleek. Men with oily skin should exfoliate each time they shower to prevent blackheads from forming on their backs, while women should exfoliate two to three times a week.
