Overall health and well being are my absolute best anti-aging secrets! Exercise and stretching are great ways to boost circulation and thereby strengthening skin’s elasticity and brightening the complexion. Physical activity and a nutritious diet are crucial for a healthy life, here’s why:

  • Sweat rids your body of toxins that can cause breakouts.
  • Increases blood flow, carrying oxygen + nutrients to the skin.
  • Increase circulation to prevent dull skin.
  • Reduce stress, which can cause us to reach for oily, salty foods + lose beauty sleep.

A Peek into My Routine

I have been bursting with energy ever since I was a young boy and even at the age of 61, I like to incorporate exercise into my routine. Being active is a big part of my day, whether it’s walking, hiking, passionate dancing, hula hooping or gymnastics. Stretching is vital because it is a great way to stay limber while increasing oxygen flow throughout the body to maintain healthy circulation- and also a great way to make sure you do not pull a muscle during vigorous workouts.

To lead a healthy balanced lifestyle, it’s important to not only watch what we put in and on our bodies but also what we put out. Exercise and stretching are a great way to release sweat and energy that will benefit your heart, muscle tone, and also your skin.Not only will you look great, but feel great too and as I always say, “A happy face is a beautiful face!”

In Honor of Honey Bees Everywhere


Did you know? July is honey bee awareness month! Honey bees never sleep, always busy producing the only food that includes all the necessary substances to sustain life. Sure we’ll take it in our tea, but there is so much more that honey can do! It really is one of nature’s skin care miracles.

What can honey do for your skin?

Hydrating

Honey naturally attracts and retains moisture and is suitable for all skin types.  Dry or dehydrated skin benefits because honey seals and locks moisture into the skin and oily skin benefits since honey moisturizes without added oil – even sensitive skin benefits since honey is known for having non-irritating properties!

Disinfecting

Honey contains a naturally occurring enzyme that prohibits the growth of bacteria. This anti-microbial agent is excellent for preventing and treating minor acne because it goes right to work attacking bacteria while also moisturizing and rejuvenating the skin!

Protecting

The antioxidants in honey combat free-radicals in the body and protect from environmental aggressors. Antioxidants also help supply nutrients for the growth of new skin tissue, which helps reduce the appearance of old scar tissue.

Try it at home! Ole’s Honey Oatmeal Mask:

  • 1 tsp plain yogurt
  • 2 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp finely ground oatmeal
  • 1 vitamin A capsule
  • 1 vitamin E capsule
  • 5 drops lavender essential oil

Create a smooth paste with the above ingredients. Apply on clean skin, rinsing with luke warm water after 20-30 minutes.  Best used once a week.

Spring Clean for Summer


Every year the change in seasons motivates me to clean out my life – out with the old and in with the new! It’s important to organize and regroup with all aspects of your life, too, from closet to skin care cabinet. As we transition out of winter, just like we need a different wardrobe, we need to also tweak our skin care regimen.  We may need to look for a new routine that is lighter in formula to compliment warmer weather, different from the cooler and dryer climate we experience in winter.  I’ve compiled some advice below to help you figure out the best way to care for your skin as the season changes.

Stay covered

The days are getting longer this time of year, which means we have more time to enjoy the daylight – but this also means our skin can be exposed to the sun for longer periods of time.  It’s so important to remember to stay covered and wear sun protection – even when it’s not that sunny.  The sun’s UVA and UVB rays can penetrate the skin even when you least expect it and damage and age the skin.

“The sun is so harmful to skin.  To keep skin young and healthy, Ole recommends an SPF of 15, like truth revealed super crème, for daily use and SPF 50+, like protect the truth SPF 50+, when you are out in the sun for long periods,” Ole advised.

Staying covered will keep skin beautiful, preventing fine lines, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

Lighter formulations

While winter brings dryer days, which can more easily dehydrate the skin, the skin might not need as much moisturization in the spring and summer months.  As a result, look for products that are less rich in formulation but still hydrate and nourish.  Great examples of light formulas are truth revealed super crème SPF 15 for day and truth crème advanced hydration for night.  You can also mix in a little all purpose aloe vera gel to cut the richness of your crèmes and make them more lightweight.  It’s important to remember, however, just because it’s humid out, the skin still needs to be moisturized, since hydration is the key to ageless skin.

Summer Travel Essentials


Summer is coming and that means vacation time! Traveling can be tough; knowing what to pack can be stressful! Ole thankfully offered some advice he’s accumulated from his travels all over the world:

“When I travel, I only take the basics along with me” says Ole. “The key for me is to take along my favorite cleanser, tonic, SPF day crème, night crème, eye crème and a favorite treatment like my truth serum® collagen booster.”

Keeping your routine simple as Ole recommends, will save time and packing space! It will also be easier to maintain the routine even when you’re busy during your time away.

The TSA requires liquids in your carry-on luggage be 3 fl oz or less.  Luckily, most of the OLEHENRIKSEN products are available in smaller sizes, making them easy and ready to take on travel!

Summer Skin is in!


Summer skin. Everyone wants to look sexy and hot in summer, women and men alike.  Here are some tips and tricks to combat summer skin concerns!

  • Cover up!

Many people think it’s not necessary to wear sunscreen when they’re not out in the sun, but this is false!  UVA and UVB rays can still penetrate the skin on overcast days or through windows when you’re inside.  Shielding yourself from sun damage is as using a daily moisturizing crème with SPF.  Ole recommend using an crème, lotion or lip balm with an SPF 15 for daily use and 50+ when you’re in the sun for an extended period of time.

  • Dull skin?

Exfoliation is an often forgotten step in revealing luminous skin!
